Hiking is fun for all! Be sure to pick up a map of the Land Bank and Trustee of Reservation properties. Over one-third of the Island is held in preservation and the trails go through cool woodlands, breezy meadows and along the scenic shoreline. Maps are available at their headquarters or from their websites.
Biking and jogging trails are all over the Island and our gentle, rolling terrain makes this kind of touring a very easy and wonderful individual or group activity.
For those that are water oriented, many charter boats offer half-day or daylong fishing trips and there’s also no shortage on day cruises. Motorboat, sailboat, jet ski, and kayak rentals are found mainly in the three major villages. Island Water Sports and Wind’s Up are good places to check with about rentals, and Mad Max is a popular Catamaran tour out of Edgartown. A cocktail sail at sunset on Magic Carpet is not to be missed. 

Fishing, clamming, crabbing, and just plain poking around in our ponds, bays and ocean are a favorite past time for kids of all ages! Explore on your own or call Sandcastle ay 508-627-5665 for guidance.

The FARM Institute at Katama Farms in Edgartown is another great stop for the wee little farmers right on up to the big, adult farmers, of tomorrow. An educational farm, with summer day camp programs for all ages, it gets children and adults actively involved in and excited about learning about sustainable agriculture and healthy eating.
